What we do

  • Advocacy

We campaign tirelessly to hold governments accountable and secure fair trials or safe release for detainees. By engaging with international human rights bodies, legal teams, and activists, we apply pressure where it matters most. Our advocacy takes many forms, from challenging unlawful detentions in court to coordinating public petitions, protests, and media campaigns. Every action we take is aimed at ensuring that Guantanamo remains a political and moral issue that cannot be ignored.

Our advocacy efforts help dismantle the structures that allow indefinite detention to continue. By refusing to let these injustices fade into the background, we force decision-makers to confront the reality of Guantanamo and take action.

  • Education

Public disengagement allows injustice to persist. We work to educate and empower individuals by ensuring that the truth about Guantanamo is known and understood. Through survivor testimonies, exhibitions, and media campaigns, we highlight the stories of those directly affected. We collaborate with universities, journalists, and human rights organisations to inform and inspire new generations of activists. Our educational programs challenge misinformation and encourage public pressure on decision-makers.

An informed public is a powerful force for change. By raising awareness and equipping people with knowledge, we ensure that Guantanamo’s injustices are neither ignored nor forgotten. Education transforms outrage into action, helping to build a movement that demands accountability and prevents history from repeating itself.

  • APPG

We established the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Guantanamo to ensure that the UK takes an active role in securing justice for detainees. This cross-party group provides MPs and Lords with key evidence, expert briefings, and testimonies from former detainees and legal experts, ensuring that those in power remain informed and engaged.

By keeping Guantanamo on the UK’s political agenda, the APPG pushes for debates, policy proposals, and diplomatic action to drive meaningful change. Through sustained parliamentary engagement, we amplify international pressure on the US to close the prison, strengthening government accountability and ensuring that UK foreign policy aligns with fundamental human rights principles.
