Our Mission

The UK Guantanamo Network is an alliance of activists and organisations working to close Guantanamo Bay and secure fair trials or safe release for the men still held there. For over two decades, detainees have been imprisoned without charge or due process, enduring conditions that violate human rights and the rule of law.

World leaders, including U.S. presidents and high-ranking military officials, have acknowledged that Guantanamo should be closed. Yet, it remains open—not because of legal necessity, but due to political inaction and a lack of moral courage. The power to end this injustice lies with ordinary citizens who recognise that the rights of any prisoner reflect the integrity of justice for all.

Our network brings together organisations such as the Guantanamo Justice Campaign, the London Guantanamo Campaign, the Close Guantanamo Campaign, Freedom from Torture, and Amnesty International. Together, we amplify the voices of detainees, mobilise public pressure, and push for decisive action to hold governments accountable.

We believe that injustice anywhere threatens justice everywhere. By standing against indefinite detention and state-sanctioned abuse, we defend the fundamental principles of freedom, justice and, dignity for all.
